A smithy was built at Möhkö ironworks in the 1840´s. The smithy comprised 1-4 forges, and iron products were forged there for the ironwork´s own needs. Iron parts were needed e.g. in the construction of blast furnaces and canals.

During the ownership of Enso-Gutzeit Oy the smithy made mainly log floating and forest tools, The smithy was in use till the 1970´s, when tools made in factories started to become more common.

The smithy is used also nowadays in summertime.
